Green Gal Pick: Fridge-It Odor Absorber Review and Giveaway ***CLOSED***

As everyone knows -- diapers stink.  In my home there are a LOT of diapers.  My daughter uses cloth diapers which I keep in a pail liner inside a regular trashcan until it is washing time.  But, I also have my own home daycare and most of them uses disposable diapers which end up in my trash can each day.  Needless to say, by the end of the day my hallway STINKS.  Since I do not use chemical air fresheners and the weather isn't quite warm enough to open the windows and let some of the stink out, I am stuck with a stinky house until the end of the day when I can take out the trash and wash diapers.  I knew that there had to be a green way to control odors inside the home without spraying toxic chemicals to cover up the smell, but I couldn't find anything for a long time.  Then I saw Innofresh's blog.

As I read, I realized that their line of eco-friendly, fragrance and chemical free line of activated carbon odor absorbers was exactly what I needed.  Another huge plus, these are made right here in the USA.  Which makes them greener because they do not have to ship from halfway around the world.  I do not use chemical cleaning products in my home for the safety and health of my family, my dog, and my daycare children.  A find like this was something I needed to have ASAP!  Unlike other products that just mask odors, their activated carbon odor absorbers actually eliminate the odors by absorbing and neutralizing - so the odor is permanently eliminated - not just covered up like other "air fresheners."   So I contacted Bruce over at Innofresh and he generously offered to send me some of their awesome odor absorbers to review.

So once I received the odor absorbers, I out them to the ultimate test -- well my daycare kids did.  I stuck one at the bottom of the garbage can and put in a fresh bag.  Within an hour, there were 5 soiled diapers in that can.  For the first time, I could walk through the room without smelling anything at all!  I also clipped one to the lid of my daughter's diaper pail.  That pail sat for 3 days before I washed the diapers and there was no odor in or around the pail.  Usually I have to take the pail down into the basement each night and store the dirties down there until washing, but not anymore!

Since I love to put things to the test, I also put one in our fridge, freezer, and my husband's lunchbox.  My fridge stinks like onion because I use a lot of onions and garlic when I cook.  And that old box of baking soda just isn't cutting it anymore.  Nothing is worse than putting butter on your bagel in the morning and your butter tastes like old onion -- ICK!  My freezer had that lovely smell of freezer burn -- at least I think that is what it is. I'm not actually sure what freezer burn smells like.  I wanted to see how long it would take to remove the odors from the fridge, freezer, and lunchbox.  I clipped these absorbers in at 8 in the morning and by lunchtime the odors in all three locations were completely gone.  I was amazed.

Now, if only I could get my dog to wear one on his collar...

Our trash can has a permanent odor, I have no idea why but I have tried scented bags, febreeze, baking soda and nothing seems to work and I hate that I have no where to actually hide it.

I have 3 cats, 2 dogs, 2 ferrets, 2 girls, and a husband. Does that explain my stinky situation? I would probably put this around the area of the ferret cage. Thanks for this awesome giveaway!

I hate a smelly fridge so this would be so awesome, and less space than that yellow box. Thanks!

I have a cat whose stomach is real sensitive. Every time I open a new bag of food - even when it's same brand, same flavor - she gets the runs. And if I change the type of food OMG. It reeks sooooo bad through out the house. She's this tiny, delicate little thing, but she is SMELLY. I have 5 cats, so they go thru the BIG bag of food in maybe 3 weeks or less, so I have to deal with this constantly. I wonder if these would help with that smell.

Thanks for the giveaway >^..^<

I do have the story that will make you smell the stink but first why I need some fridge-it... 2dogs, countless foster animals, a 5 year old that still misses the toilet, a 5 year old, a 17 month old in diapers, hubby, the mystery animal that lives in the roof and goodness knows what it eats yuck..
now the story...
There was this funk in the air one day. I blamed the dogs at first then after washing their beds and cleaning the air the smell was still there. At first it was only me that could smell it but slowly over DAYS others could. I swear it MOVED from place to place. Sometimes so strong it burned my nose hairs and made my lips curl.
I decided that maybe the mystery animal died in the wall. YES it was that horrid.... then one day I was moving the small couch so I could rearrange the living room and BAM. That horrid smell smacked me right in the face and had me running for the bathroom. I returned with protection and there under the couch was a sippy cup with some old milk in it. When I say OLD I mean Lil Kiwi hasn't used a sippy cup in MONTHS!!!

I have 10 cats. yes, you read that right-TEN! They are all loved rescues but they tend to prefer one litterbox to the rest. A few of them decided that they didn't want to bury their poop and when I come home from work the first thing I smell when I walk through theat door is..are you ready?...STINKY CAT POOP.

We live next door to an elderly lady who must be convinced that we are far out in the country. She has to very large mutts who have to "go" frequently. As she thinks it is the country, there is no need to clean up after them. Every time I walk into the backyard I have to hold my breath.

Between our new baby girl and our cat's little box we have a lot of odor issues in our home. The worst was last week when my daughter's poopy leaked out of her cloth diaper while sleeping and she apparently was kicking and spread it all over her tiny legs in her sleep sack. What a stinky mess!

I had been smelling something funky for days, thought maybe something bad in the fridge, Nope. Kept looking and searching was gross smelling. Cleaned and looked under everything. Finally found it one of the kids ad thrown an orange in a little trash container that is hardly ever used. Now that smell was bad and embarrassing. Took forever to pin point the location.

I am pregnant with my second surrogate baby right now. When I am pregnant, I of course smell things a lot easier than most and my gag reflex is .. THERE!

So, when I smelled something funky coming from the fridge.. I informed my husband as it was my hint to him to please seek it out and get it out! He looked and found nothing. The smell became stronger and stronger. I finally uncovered what it was.. chicken I had bought two weeks ago that I had forgotten about. And oh the rank smell it gave off. I had to shut the fridge, turn around and toss my cookies into the sink. :/

And then I turned back around, grabbed that bag of chicken out of the fridge and ran like you-know-what straight out of my house to the garbage can, back into the house to .. toss my cookies once more.

Smells + me = don't get along at all. LOL!

My teenage son had a pair of Nike he wore everywhere. He played ball in the summer. Between the grass and the rain they acquired a horrid odors. I was able to keep them out of the house until I had to go out of town. Returning home, when I opened the front door I was met with a horrible odor that drifted downsstairs like a stinky wetsmelling monster and enveloped the whole house making me gag. He had pulled his sneakers off up stairs. They had to be the grossest smelling sneakers ever. garrettsambo@aol.com

I eat salads daily, and over one summer, I left home for two weeks for visit family. My husband, not being a salad eater, didn't check the veggie drawer the entire time, and by the time I returned, most of my salad ingredients were liquefied and stanky. I nearly passed out when I opened the drawer.
